An urgent meeting between U.S. Ambassador Edward B. Lawson and Israel Premier David Ben Gurion took place Tuesday at the request of the American envoy. Although the meeting, which lasted several hours, was shrouded in complete secrecy, it is assumed that the question of Israel’s withdrawal from Sinai and the future legal status in Israel-Egyptian relations were the major topics discussed.

The meeting between Premier Ben Gurion and Ambassador Lawson took place immediately after Mr. Ben Gurion met British Ambassador John W. Nichols. It is believed that the conference with the British envoy was devoted to the grave situation which is developing along the Israel-Jordan border as a result of the renewed attacks within Israel territory by Arab commandos from Jordan.
