The U. S. Office of Education today made known that it has approved a loan of $11,400 to a new Jewish religious school, the “Yeshiva of the South,” at Memphis, Tenn.
The new institution offers a comprehensive secondary course, grades nine and 10, and has an enrollment of 17 students. The loan will be used to purchase science equipment and materials. The loan was made under the National Defense Education Act, as amended, which provides for loans to nonprofit private schools to acquire special equipment and facilities to strengthen education in science, mathematics, modern foreign languages, history, civics, geography, English, or reading. The rate of interest is 4-1/4 percent.
