The United States is “duty bound” to supply Israel immediately with anti-tank, anti-aircraft guns and sub-chasers, else that democracy will be a “condemned prisoner in the dock awaiting execution,” Representative Emanuel Celler, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, last evening told a meeting of the American Jewish Congress.

Representative Celler also declared that in addition to defensive arms, “a security pact is essential whereby the United States guarantees the borders of Israel. But first and foremost, defensive arms must be supplied. Time is of the essence.”
