U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Martin Indyk told Israeli Foreign Minister David Levy that Israel now has until January to formulate the specifics of its further redeployment from the West Bank, according to Israel Radio. Indyk met on Monday with Syrian President Hafez Assad in Syria, where the two reportedly discussed a revival of Syrian-Israeli peace talks.
