Nine senior officers, representing leading American banking and financial institutions in New York, Chicago, Boston and Detroit, left today for Israel to participate in the Seventh Bankers Study Mission.
Originated in 1949 by the Jewish Agency for Israel, Inc., the Missions are designed to give American financial circles an opportunity to study at first hand the effect of American philanthropic funds made available for immigrant resettlement programs in Israel through the United Jewish Appeal and to observe the general economic development of the country. All banks and financial institutions represented in the Mission have cooperated with the Jewish Agency for Israel, Inc., in various loan programs.
The Mission, which is visiting Israel at the invitation of the Jewish Agency for Israel, Inc., will study Israel’s economic and industrial development as well as its immigration, housing, rehabilitation and colonization programs. During their stay, the members of the Mission will meet with senior officials of the Jewish Agency, Jerusalem, and leading personalities in Israel’s government and financial circles. They will also visit Jewish Agency transit centers in Europe as well as the Agency’s installations and absorption centers throughout Israel.
