Serafon, a company founded four years ago by the Palestine Economic Corporation and American industrialists, has begun manufacturing an essential raw material for the production of plastics, it was announced here today.
The production of “polystyrene saffron,” a thermoplastic powder, is expected to make the plastics industry independent of imports of this product and thus save about 40 percent of the foreign currency now allocated for materials for the plastics industry. The company is also producing a soil conditioner and is planning to start the manufacture of synthetic heels and soles for shoes.
