The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, whose delegation spent more than an hour yesterday in a Washington meeting with Secretary of State Dean Rusk, issued a statement here today on the results of the lengthy talk with Mr. Rusk. The statement declared:
“The delegation expressed to the Secretary of State the deep concern of the American Jewish community with the continuing belligerency of Arab states in the Middle East towards Israel. At the conclusion of the conference, Secretary Rusk assured the delegation of the “deep interest which our Government has in the continuing security and welfare of the State of Israel, and of the peaceful solution of problems in the Middle East.”
The Conference includes the presidents of the following organizations: American Israel Public Affairs Committee, American Jewish Congress, American Zionist Council, American Trade Union Council for Histadrut, B’nai B’rith, Council of Jewish Federations, Hadassah, Jewish Agency for Israel, Jewish Labor Committee, Jewish War Veterans of the U.S., Labor Zionist Movement, Mizrachi-Hapoel Harrizrachi National Council of Jewish Women, National Council of Young Israel, Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, Union of American Hebrew Congregations, United Synagogue of America, Zionist Organization of America.
