Acting Secretary of State Sumner Welles announced today that the United States has received a reply to one of the notes sent to the German Foreign office regarding the rights of American nationals under the Dec. 2 decree taking a large part of Jews’ property under State “trusteeship.” The reply is under consideration by the State Department, Mr. Welles said, and he expects to say in a day or two what this Government’s position is regarding the note.
