A group of American investors headed by Sam Rothberg of Peoria, Illinois, may buy out the government’s share in Fertilizers and Chemicals. Ltd., Israel’s largest chemical concern, it was reported today.
The investors, who began negotiations several months ago, have now forwarded a guarantee deposit to insure their option on the shares involved and will resume final negotiations soon, the report said. Meanwhile, it was announced that the first export shipment of 350 tons of liquid ammonia produced by Fertilizers and Chemicals. Ltd., is due to leave Haifa today for the European market.
