The Jewish Labor Committee today called for “united action by the entire American Jewish community” to deal with the latest move of anti-Jewish developments in the Soviet Union. In a statement signed by Adolph Held, chairman, and Benjamin Tabachinsky, executive secretary, the JLC called for an emergency meeting of the National Community Relations Advisory Council to discuss action on the problem.
The JLC also proposed that organizations not affiliated with NCRAC be included in the emergency gathering, including the American Jewish Committee, B’nai B’rith, the Synagogue Council of America, the National Council of Jewish Women and all other interested national Jewish groups.
The leaders of the Jewish Labor Committee declared that no partisan considerations should impede the closest cooperation and joint endeavors by all American Jewish organizations in meeting “the increasingly ominous threat to Soviet Jewry.”
