U.S. Jewish leaders criticized a State Department statement that reprimanded Israel for retaliating with missile attacks on Gaza City on Monday after the terror bombing of an Israeli school bus elsewhere in Gaza. “The U.S. has to distinguish between those who are responsible for the violence” in the West Bank and Gaza Strip “and those who respond to it,” the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations said in a letter to the State Department.
