Forty young American Jews, mostly college students between the ages of 18 and 25, left tonight for Israel by El Al to participate in summer work programs in various collective settlements.
Arrangements for their placement in Israel are being made by the Jewish Agency office in Jerusalem. The youths, who have paid for their own transportation, are part of the regular summer work programs conducted annually by the American Zionist Youth Foundation. Ordinarily, they would have left for Israel late in June, but this year, in view of the needs for workers in the agricultural settlements, their date of departure was advanced.
