The Labor Zionist Movement today called on all its members to give a minimum of a week’s income or salary to the Israel Emergency Fund of the United Jewish Appeal. The appeal was directed to the members of LZOA-Poale Zion; Farband; Pioneer Women; and Habonim-Labor Zionist Youth. Pinchas Cruso, chairman of the Labor Zionist Movement coordinating committee, stressed that many Labor Zionist Movement members have given “much more than the minimum, but we are asking for at least a week’s income.
“Already, thousands of dollars have poured in,” said Mr. Cruso, “from people in all walks of life. Labor Zionist members who are school teachers and civil servants have given their week’s salary and so have Habonim youth, who have turned in baby-sitting money, part-time job earnings and allowances to the special UJA fund. Many of our members have given of their savings and insurance policies and have asked their friends to do the same in this time of Israel’s need.”
