Senator Jacob K. Javite of New York appealed today to Soviet Ambassador Anatoly Dobrynin to intercede with Kremlin officials to allow receipt of a shipment of American-baked matzohs for Russian Jews in time for Passover.
In a telegram to the Soviet envoy, Sen. Javits said that he has been assured by representatives of the matzoh industry that they will donate a shipment of matzoh and arrange for air transportation provided they have assurances that the Soviet Government will permit its arrival. The Senator’s office identified the cooperating companies as: A.H. Horowitz Bros., Horowitz-Margareten Co., A. Goodman and Sons, B. Manischewitz Co., and Aaron Streit. Co.
