U.S. Member of Palestine Inquiry Commission Replaced by Truman with California Attorney

President Truman late yesterday replaced O. (##) Gardner, former Governor of North Carolina, who asked to be relieved of his appointment to the Anglo-American Palestine Commission, with Bartley C. Crum of San Francisco.

Crum was Wendell Willkie’s campaign manager, and headed the “Republicans for Roosevelt” in 1944. He has been prominently identified with liberal movements on the West Coast.
