U.S. military aircraft will land 800 American soldiers in Israel later this month to bring the American contingent of the United Nations peace observer force in Sinai up to full strength. Military transports are being used for the first time because of the crash of a chartered civilian plane over Newfoundland last December which killed 248 marines on their way home from duty in Sinai.
