A warning that unless Jewish communities in the U.S. “acted with the greatest haste and determination, tens of thousands of Jews now in DP camps in Europe who are eligible for admission to the United States in 1950 would miss the opportunity to enter this country” was made here today by William Rosenwald, honorary president of the United Service for New Americans, addressing the midwest conference of the organization.

Over 150 delegates from Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana heard reports on the present situation of DP’s delivered by Dr. William Haber, former advisor on Jewish affairs to A.M.G. in Germany, and James McTigue, general counsel for the U.S. Displaced Persons Commission.
