Questioned closely on the Austrian developments during a press conference yesterday, Secretary of State Cordell Hull refused to comment other than to state that the United States was not involved in any way.
The Austrian Legation disclosed here that it had been ordered by the Foreign Office in Vienna to hoist the swastika over its quarters here, adding it would comply as soon as the Nazi emblem could be obtained. Later a swastika obtained from the German Embassy was unfurled.
