U.S. policy is against the sale of weapons to Syria, and Russia knows it, the State Department said. Spokesman Richard Boucher said Wednesday that the department was seeking to confirm reports that Russia was planning to sell missiles to Syria, which is being sanctioned by the United States for sponsoring terrorism. Boucher said sanctions could be imposed if the sale is verified.
