Of the 6,000 Jewish refugees still in Roumania pending arrangements to be made for their evacuation, at least 3,000 are stranded for nine months until the United States immigration quota for Russian immigrants reopens.
This report was brought here by Dr. Tiomkin, representative of the Jewish World Relief Executive, who has just returned from an investigation tour in Bessarabia. There are still 6,000 to be evacuated of whom half hold American visas and are awaiting the reopening of the Russian quota. Fifteen hundred are scheduled to go to Argentine, the remainder to Canada, Uruguay and Brazil.
