It was learned here today that the United States has definitely declined the request of Jewish women here whose husbands have disappeared for visas to America in order to obtain their freedom, through the custom of chalizah , by being released by the brothers of their husbands who are in the United States. The American minister in Warsaw had promised the rabbinate some time ago that he would endeavor to obtain about 100 visas for this purpose but the rabbinate has now been informed of the American government’s final ruling.
