United States Senator Jacob K. Javits, New York Republican, announced here today that he had requested the State Department to determine whether President Nasser of Egypt “is violating international law” through his program of developing non conventional weapons aimed at the destruction of Israel.

The Senator made his statement in a message to an outdoor rally conducted in the heart of Manhattan’s crowded Garment Center by Betar, known as Brith Trumpeldor of America, a group of Zionists Revisionists, to call for action on the entire issue. Several hundred persons attended the rally and heard addresses criticizing West Germany for permitting its scientists to work on the new Egyptian weapons program and calling on the United States Government to influence the West German Government to withdraw its scientists from Nasser employment.

Speakers who voiced these demands included Rabbi Louis I. Newman, rabbi of Rodef Shalom synagogue, Prof. Johann Smertenko, and Harry Torczyner, a member of the executive committee of the Zionist Organization of America.
