The auditorium of the Albert Einstein Hospital, a Jewish-sponsored non-sectarian institution, was dedicated here in the presence of Dr. Arthur Kornberg, American Nobel-prize winning scientist, who delivered the first lecture in the auditorium following the dedication ceremonies. The hospital, when completed will include a 14-story building with more than 25,000 square yards of floor space.
Prof. Kornberg, who came here with Mrs. Kornberg to take part in the opening of the hospital auditorium, was also guest of honor at a dinner meeting at the home of Cunha Bueno, a Federal deputy, which was attended by Dr. Adhemar de Barros, Governor of Sao Paulo, and other senior Government officials. Representatives of the Israel Embassy and the Jewish community were among the guests. At the dinner, Dr. Kornberg was presented with the Marechal Rondon Medal.
Hospital officials announced plans for holding two lectures each year in the auditorium by eminent scientists of international repute. Baron Edmond de Rothschild of Paris has donated an ophthalmology department to the hospital, which will be opened in November.
