U.S. Secretary of State-designate Colin Powell received a large sum of money to deliver a lecture financed by Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Issam Fares, the Jerusalem Post reported, citing an unidentified source close to Fares. A spokesman for Powell said the reported $200,000 speaking fee was “grossly exaggerated” and that Powell had committed no wrong in giving the speech at Tufts University five days before the November elections.
