U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright convened talks between the Palestinian Authority and Israel in Washington. An Israeli spokesman said the Jewish state expects progress on issues outstanding from the 1995 Interim Agreement such as a Palestinian airport. Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat has said the talks have “no chance.”
