U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright extended her brief Middle East visit to meet Jordan’s new Crown Prince Abdullah. Albright, who was in Egypt and Saudi Arabia primarily to discuss U.S. policy to Iraq, praised the Palestinian Authority for “fulfill some aspects of what they need to do” under the Wye accord. Speaking in Cairo after meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Albright called on both Israel and the Palestinians to fulfill the obligations spelled out in the accord. Albright will not be visiting Israel during her trip.
