The Jewish Daily Bulletin’s correspondent here has learned on good authority that a number of deserted seamen are on the staff of Heinz Spanknoebel’s pro-Nazi and anti-Jewish organization in the United States. Immigration authorities are on the trail of these deserters.
According to law, these deserted seamen are subject to deportation. The law states: “Where a bona fide alien seaman serving as such on a vessel arriving at a port of the United States and permitted to enter the United States as a non-immigrant pursuant to Subdivision 5 Section 3 of the Immigration Act of 1924, solely in pursuit of his calling as a seaman, remains within the United States for more than sixty days after such entry, he shall be deemed to have abandoned his status as a non-immigrant, and shall be taken into custody and deported at any time thereafter in accordance with Section 14 of said Act.”
