Three major Israeli exports to the United States are slated for tariff reductions when the recently concluded Geneva conference tariff negotiations become effective, it was reported here today. The agreement awaits only a Presidential proclamation before going into effect.
Israeli exports to the United States in line for tariff reductions include: two chemical products–ethelyine diabromide and potasium bromide, and uncut diamonds. The three products represented a total export of $17, 400, 000 to the United States last year.
In return for the U.S. concessions, Israel has agreed to reduce tariffs on a variety of U.S. imports, the largest of which are wheat, motor vehicle parts and medical, dental and veterinarian equipment and supplies. The Israeli-U. S. agreement was part of a global tariff reduction plan endorsed by the U.S. in Geneva last fall along with the participating members of the General Agreement on Tariff and Trade.
