Secretary-General U Thant gave a farewell luncheon this weekend for Ambassador Gideon Rafael, the Israeli permanent representative, who has been appointed Director General of the Israel Foreign Ministry, in Jerusalem. Attending the luncheon were representatives of the United States, Britain, France, Holland, Mexico, Dahomey, Philippines and senior members of the Secretariat headed by Dr. Ralph J. Bunche and C.V. Narissaman. No representative of the Eastern bloc was present. Mr. Rafael will remain at the U.N. for the duration of the discussion on the Middle East crisis.
