The United Jewish Appeal yesterday pointed to the increased allotment of immigration certificates for German Jews as an indication of the constructive relief work that can be enlarged if sufficient funds are furnished by the Jews of America. The Appeal is now seeking $3,000,000 for the relief of German Jews and for the settlement of Jews in Palestine.

Each certificate granted to a German Jew enables him to transfer his entire family to Palestine. It is expected that at least 15,000 German Jews will be added to the total of German Jews who have found a refuge in the Jewish National Home.

The schedule of labor certificates allotted to the Jewish Agency for Palestine by the Palestine Government for the entry of Jews includes 1,202 for Germany out of a total allotment of 5,150. The next largest number, 1,086, is assigned to Polish Jews. In addition, a number of certificates assigned to other countries will be used for refugees from Germany. These labor certificates are awarded to Jewish families without means.

Two thousand additional permits for immigrants were assigned to the British consul at Berlin for the use of German Jews who possess 1,000 pounds or more. The Jewish Agency for Palestine states that 800 Jews received such certificates during the period from January to May, 1934.

Two hundred fifty permits have been granted for the entry of German Jewish children, who will be provided for by the Central Bureau for the Settlement of German Jewish Refugees, which obtains its funds through the United Jewish Appeal.
