Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz, executive vice-chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, toured Jewish communal institutions in this city today in the company of Samuel Haber; Joint Distribution Committee director for Germany. Dr. Schwartz, who is studying the situation of Jewish refugees here, is scheduled to fly to Munich and to visit the Foehrenwald camp for Jewish DP’s before proceeding to Vienna.
He also attended a Seder at the Wannsee camp for 400 refugees from the Soviet zone of Germany. Rabbi Max Nussbaum of Hollywood, who was formerly a rabbi in Germany, officiated at the ceremony. He visited Berlin to study refugee assistance and communal programs.
