UJA Prime Minister’s Mission Participants Pledge $29 Million

The 320 participants of the 1978 United Jewish Appeal Prime Minister’s Mission concluded their four-day visit to Israel by personally pledging almost $29 million, in was announced here by UJA General Chairman Irwin Field. Of that sum some $11 million will go to “Project Renewal,” the $1.2 billion project for the rehabilitation of 160 poverty neighborhoods in Israel. According to UJA estimates, the pledges of $29 million is the highest in the history of the UJA Prime Minister’s Missions. The Mission’s visit ended last Thursday with a festive dinner at the Knesset where the participants were addressed by Premier Menachem Begin. (See separate story Pg.
