Ukraine promised to compensate the families of Israelis killed in a plane crash. Ukraine’s president, Leonid Kuchma, made the promise during a telephone conversation Saturday with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. The vow came after a Sibir Airlines flight was accidentally shot down Oct. 4 by a Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile over the Black Sea.
