Allottment of land for the settlement of 1,450 Jewish families in the fall was made by the Ukramian Comzet. However, only a few families have registered because of the predicted poor autumn crop.
An article in “Der Stern,” Charkoff daily, urges the Jews to register, otherwise the assignments will be transferred’ to others.
Jewish Communists have been refused admission to the Chalutzim colony Octiabr, formerly Telchai, according to a report in the “Emes.”
After several members of the colony were tried for Zionism, the Ukrainian Comzet sent ten Communists to the colony from Winniza. They were refused admission and compelled to return, the paper states.
Formation of a holding corporation to supervise the erection of a new Fulton County Jewish Community Center in Gloversville, N. Y. is announced. Articles of incorporation have been filed with the Secretary of State at Albany by the F. C. J. C. Holding Co., Inc.
The Hillel Foundation at Ohio State University, of which Rabbi Lee J. Levinger is the director, recently had the distinction of being awarded two university cups in one day. The first of these was for the championship in intramural debating, while the second was for runners-up in the intramural swimming meet.
