–Dr. Ludwig Marum, fifty-one, a German Jew, committed “suicide” by hanging himself in his cell at Kislau, Germany, according to German dispatches received today by his uncle, Emil Marum of 6 Linden road.

“Dr. Marum,” declared Mr. Marum, “was a former Socialist Reichstag member and state minister of Baden. German dispatches said he had been in ‘protective custody’ since May of last year. Secret police made the announcement of the death. The dispatches said they believed he had become despondent because he had been apprised release was out of the question for him at the present time.”

The deceased, according to Mr. Marum, was married and has a wife and two sons still residing in Germany. Dr. Marum was a native-born German, the offspring of five generations of German heritage.
