Several hundred unemployed persons demonstrated outside the Haifa Labor Exchange office here demanding work. Police were called after several of the demonstrators broke into the Council’s offices. A number of persons were arrested.
Large sections of the Israel population do not receive sufficient nutritional foods since they depend solely on the regular rations prevalent today in Israel, a medical advisory council on nutrition declared here this week-end. Although the group said there were no traces in Israel of malnutrition nor had any diseases been detected owing to the present food shortage, it urged the government to increase the nutritional value of rationed foods.
