Finance Minister Levi Eshkol today revealed that the government has “almost succeeded” in resolving the unemployment problem in the country. The actual number of unemployed in Israel today, he said, is about half of the anticipated 30, 000.
Restrictions on the use of electric power in Israeli homes may be ended and it will be possible to extend irrigation activities in the arid regions of the country now that Tel Aviv’s Reading Power Station has been opened. The new turbine, which began operating yesterday, has a power rating of 50, 000 kilowatts.
