A deputation consisting of the Jewish deputies Dr. Wilhelm Vaszonyi, Paul Sandor and Dr. Bela Fabian, and Dr. Alexander Lederer, President of the Budapest Jewish community have visited M. Ivan Rakovsky, Minister for the Interior, and asked him to withdraw the prohibition against the Union of Jewish students at the Hungarian Universities, which was suppressed by the authorities last Spring. M. Rakovszky said that he would have the question reopened, and the Union would probably be functioning again before the end of 1923.
The chief activity of the Union was the raising of funds for the support of Jewish students who were compelled by the operation of the numerus clausus to study in universities outside Hungary.
