A resolution prohibiting members of the Yiddish Actors’ Union from appearing in Yiddish talkies was adopted by a large majority at a meeting of the Union, It was stated that the Yiddish talkies which have been produced up to now are of a sort to injure the reputation of the Yiddish theatre. Besides, it was said at the meeting, the company which produces the Yiddish talkies hires non-union actors without any theatrical experience.
Reuben Guskin, manager of the Yiddish Actors’ Union, pointed out that the Yiddish talkies are not being shown in non-Jewish neighborhoods, but only in such neighborhoods where there are Yiddish theatres.
