The United Jewish Appeal is organizing its first university study mission to study Jewish life and operations in UJA-supported welfare agencies in North Africa, Europe and Israel, it was announced at the UJA national headquarters here today by Max M. Fisher of Detroit, UJA general chairman.
Mr. Fisher said the mission will accept a maximum of 40 men in the 18 to 24-year range from campuses throughout the nation. Applicants will be chosen for qualities of leadership on the campus and for leadership potential in their home communities. Members of the mission will pay their own way for the two-month tour.
Briefing sessions for those selected will take place in New York on June 19 and the group will depart the next evening. The first month will be spent in Morocco, France, Germany, Poland and Austria, and the second month will be devoted to Israel.
