The United Jewish Appeal received in cash from Jan. 1. of this year up to this week-end the sum of $100,219,000, it was announced by Henry Morgenthau Jr., general chairman of the U.J.A.
Mr. Morgenthau pointed out that 1949 marks the fourth successive year that the U.J.A. will raise more than $100,000,000, “setting a new record in the annals of philanthropy.” Mr. Morgenthau said that the total that will be contributed to the U.J.A. this year was exceeded only by the results of the U.J.A. drive in 1948, when $150,000,000 was raised.
