$80,000 was subscribed toward the New England quota of $450,000 for the United Palestine Appeal at a dinner held here last Wednesday night in the Chamber of Commerce. Over 700 persons attended the gathering.
Judge William M. Lewis, National Chairman of the United Palestine Appeal, delivered an address in the absence of Rabbi Stephen S. Wise, who was scheduled to be the main speaker and who was prevented from attending because of his illness.
Preceding the official launching of the campaign in Greater Boston, an emergency conference was held at the Chamber of Commerce where representatives from all parts of New England were present. Morris Rothenberg, National Chairman of the Board of Directors of the United Palestine Appeal, was the principal speaker. Elihu D. Stone presided.
