A campaign for $500,000 to provide for a three year period to carry out the program of the United Synagogue was launched at the annual banquet held last night following the close of the United Synagogue convention. Dr. Cyrus Adler acted as toastmaster.
S. Herbert Golden of New York was reelected President of the organization.
The convention reaffirmed its stand in favor of a five day industrial week. A resolution was also adopted urging the congregations affiliated with the United Synagogue of America to give representation in the congregational boards to the women and the Young People organizations in the religious, educational and administrative work. A resolution was also adopted calling for the organization of a federation of men’s clubs.
The Women’s League elected the following officers: Mrs. Samuel Spiegel, New York, President; Mrs. Cyrus Adler, Philadelphia, Mrs. Benjamin Davis, Chicago, Mrs. Morris Lurie and Mrs. Joseph Herzog, New York, Mrs. Jesse Bienenfeld, Syracuse, Miss Sarah Kussy, Newark and Mrs. Sol Rosenbloom, Pittsburgh, Vice Presidents.
