New York Jewry, he said, “has always stood at Israel’s right, in hours of joy and worry. The understanding, the concern and the moral and material support that this glorious Jewish community has extended to Israel, have served as an example of Jewish brotherhood and Jewish mutual responsibility to all Jewish communities. May this blessed relationship between us grow and deepen in all fields…” Speaking for Israel, he declared. “We in Israel shall continue to pledge ourselves and to devote all our energy to the fundamental fields of our existence and progress.
