Dr. Alvin Johnson of the New School for Social Research announces the first publication of Social Research,an international quarterly published by the members of the graduate faculty of political and social science- the University in Exile.
In his foreword to the first issue,Dr. Johnson says,”Nothing could be more natural than the emergence of a new organ of publication at the New School,where the largest oraganic grouping of continental scholars abroad has been established as a Graduate Faculty of Political and Social Science. It would be impossible,even if it were pracicable,for an organized body of continental scholars to function abroad exactly as they had functioned at home.”
The first issue is wholly the product of the Graduate Faculty in the New School, and contains articles on Social Control vs. Economic Law by Emil Ledere; Toward a Panic-Proof Industrial Structure by Karl brandt; The Pressure for Monetary Depreciation,by Arthur Feiler; Why the Papen Plan for Industrial Recovery Failed,by Gerhard Colm; New Aspects of Unemployment in Germany by Frieda Wunderlich; The Salaried Employee in Modern Society by Hans Speier.Excerpt from article entitled “Social Control vs. Economic Law-An Old Dogma and a New Situation”by Professor Emil Ledderer.
