Courses in the Hebrew language and literature are now underway at the University of Texas, in Austin, it was announced today at the offices of the World Zionist Organization here. The courses were made possible by contributions from the Department of Culture and Education of the World Zionist Organization and the B’nai B’rith Hillel Foundation.
Both courses are conducted by Rabbi Mordecai Chertoff, of Austin, who has received the rank of Lecturer in Classical Languages from the University. It is hoped that these courses will lead to the establishment of a permanent Chair in Jewish Studies at the University of Texas, the announcement said.
