Much panic and consternation has been created, particularly among the Jewish population, by an uprising in the Borisoff district. The partisans are attacking the small villages, beating and robbing the inhabitants and travellers, and have, in various places, taken some of the inhabitants as hostages. They threaten that if the twenty-two bandits who were captured recently, and sentenced to death, are executed, they will shoot the hostages. The uprising is of an anti-Soviet character.
