The method of making heavy water, used in nuclear research, discovered by Israel scientists is cheaper than production methods used in the United States and the Soviet Union and will permit cheaper development of atomic energy for peaceful purposes, the newspaper Haboker reported today.
The paper also reported that uranium ores had been discovered in the Negev, but were not being exploited because the ore was of a low grade and was therefore too expensive to process. The same article said that a good deal of work had been done in research on cosmic rays and isotopes by Israel scientists.
