A request that a Jewish delegation be invited to attend the meeting of foreign ministers of the American republics, which is scheduled to open in Rio de Janeiro next month, was submitted to Uruguyan Foreign Minister Serrate today by a delegation headed by Zwi Kolitz, leader of the New Zionist Organization.
Mr. Kolitz also proposed that all the South American governments send statements expressing their sympathy with Jewish aspirations for Palestine to the foreign ministers’ meeting. He reported that Serrate received this suggestion favorably.
Salomon Resnick, a member of the staff of the Joint Distribution Committee in Buenes Aires, left yesterday for Brazil where he will organize JDC activities. Before leaving, he announced that the JDC collected $350,000 in South America this year.
