A demand that Jewish religious instruction be made obligatory for Jewish pupils in Polish public schools was formulated by a conference of Polish rabbis which concluded its session here today.
A memorandum to this effect was submitted by representatives of the conference to the Polish Ministry of Education.
In the Polish public schools, Catholic religious instruction is obligatory and the practice has been that Jewish pupils have the right to abstain from this instruction, while their attendance at Jewish religious instruction is voluntary.
